After struggling during their tenures with the Washington Nationals, righties Justin Lawrence and Max Kranick both elected to become minor league free agents.

Former Washington Nationals right-handed relievers Justin Lawrence and Max Kranick have both elected minor league free agency following difficult 2026 campaigns. Both pitchers were outrighted off the Nationals' 40-man roster after struggling with command and will now explore opportunities with new organizations ahead of the 2027 season.
Lawrence finished the 2026 season with a 7.34 ERA and 1.951 WHIP across stints with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Minnesota Twins, and Nationals. Kranick, who joined Washington on a one-year major league deal while recovering from an injury suffered with the New York Mets, posted a 9.33 ERA and 2.182 WHIP.
