The Washington Nationals announced a flurry of roster moves to bring their 40-man roster back down to the 40-player limit. The adjustments were necessary to account for players being removed from the 60-day injured list. As part of the shuffle, notable contributors Mitchell Parker and Jose Tena were designated for assignment.
Parker was subsequently claimed off waivers by the Atlanta Braves despite undergoing Tommy John surgery, while the Cincinnati Reds claimed Paxton Schultz. Left-handed relievers PJ Poulin and Richard Lovelady cleared waivers and reached free agency, whereas knuckleballer Matt Waldron was retained on the roster.
