Speaking during a pregame press conference, Boone praised Schlittler's dominant performance at the top of the Yankees' rotation. The Yankees have already clinched a playoff berth for the season.
Schlittler has recorded a 1.95 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP over 184 2/3 innings across 31 starts this season. He leads the American League in ERA, innings pitched, and WHIP, with San Diego Padres pitcher Dylan Cease noted as his main award challenger. Schlittler, a 2022 seventh-round draft pick, has also set a franchise record with 20 starts of one run or fewer.
