Yankees’ pitching coach to return; Hideki Matsui to become NPB manager; the outlook for the winter ahead.

The New York Yankees are nearing an agreement on a new contract with pitching coach Matt Blake to retain him for the upcoming season, according to reports from Joel Sherman and Greg Joyce of the New York Post. The 41-year-old coach has served in the role since November 2019, when he replaced Larry Rothschild.
Retaining Blake represents a key offseason priority for the Yankees' coaching staff alongside manager Aaron Boone. Under Blake's guidance, New York developed one of the top starting rotations in Major League Baseball while regularly turning unheralded pitchers into reliable contributors in the bullpen.
