Dan Hooker wanted a quick turnaround after his last loss and he will face Brian Ortega at UFC Qatar in a fun fight at lightweight.

UFC lightweight Dan Hooker explained that his desire for a quick turnaround against Brian Ortega at UFC Qatar stemmed from frustration after his first-round TKO loss to Salahdine Parnasse at UFC Paris on September 5. Hooker revealed to Ariel Helwani that he felt he could not display the improvements made during training camp, prompting him to ask his manager for a bout against Ortega.
Hooker enters the contest on a three-fight losing streak with a professional record of 24-15, having previously suffered defeats to Benoit Saint-Denis and Arman Tsarukyan. Ortega has not competed since losing a decision to Aljamain Sterling in August 2025 and is preparing for a permanent transition up to the lightweight division.
