Deontay Wilder is expected to fight Jai Opetaia next month in Cardiff – but he does have one other world title fight in mind. Wilder…

Deontay Wilder has named WBA heavyweight champion Murat Gassiev as a potential opponent for his upcoming return to the ring. Wilder revealed to the IBA that communications exist between his camp and Gassiev's team, despite earlier reports suggesting a deal was already finalized for him to face cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia on the Tyson Fury versus Anthony Joshua undercard at Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
Wilder praised Gassiev as a former sparring partner and expressed a strong desire to pursue the matchup to compete for a world title. Although a fight with Opetaia remains a strong possibility, Wilder confirmed he is actively training for an upcoming bout while considering his options.
