Former champion Kamaru Usman stated that he supports UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev's decision not to compete at UFC 336. Makhachev was originally slated to defend his title against contender Carlos Prates at the event, but he declined to fight on that specific date.
Following Makhachev's withdrawal from the card, the UFC scheduled an interim welterweight title bout between Carlos Prates and Michael Morales. Makhachev's decision prompted significant debate across the division, including criticism from former fighter Brendan Schaub and strong reactions from Prates regarding the championship situation.
