Tim Tszyu is officially set to challenge Erislandy Lara for the WBA Middleweight World Championship in Australia. Following a unanimous decision victory over Errol Spence Jr in July, Tszyu called out the reigning champion to pursue becoming a two-weight world champion. A victory would make him the first member of the Tszyu family to win titles in two divisions.
Lara, the Cuban southpaw, holds four successful defenses of the WBA middleweight title and has never been stopped in his professional career. Tszyu is trained by International Boxing Hall of Famer Jeff Fenech, and promoter George Rose confirmed that venue, date, and broadcast details will be announced soon.
