UFC welterweight Joaquin Buckley announced that his next bout will be the final fight of his mixed martial arts career. The 32-year-old revealed the decision on Instagram just five days after suffering a second-round knockout loss to Mike Malott at UFC Edmonton. Buckley explained that he decided to retire after speaking with his grandmother, citing a desire to protect his long-term health and remain present for his family.
Buckley stated that he does not want to end his fighting career on a loss, though he has not yet confirmed an opponent or date for his farewell appearance. The defeat against Malott marked Buckley's third consecutive loss, following previous setbacks against Kamaru Usman and Sean Brady. Buckley holds a 21-9 professional record highlighted by 15 knockouts.
