Conor McGregor is set to make his UFC return after a five-year layoff this Saturday, July 11, headlining UFC 329 in Las Vegas. He will face former featherweight champion Max Holloway in a welterweight bout, 13 years after their first meeting.
The Irish fighter has not competed since breaking his leg in 2021. This weekend’s main event marks a significant moment in his career as he steps back into the T-Mobile Arena. Their original fight in 2013, only McGregor’s second in the promotion, ended in a unanimous decision victory for him despite a torn ACL suffered mid-fight. Since then, McGregor (22-6) went on to capture both the featherweight and lightweight titles.
Holloway (27-9) has also built a formidable legacy. He claimed the featherweight championship in 2017 and later won the ceremonial BMF belt. The Hawaiian has remained one of the most active and durable fighters in the sport, facing a list of elite opponents including Dustin Poirier, Charles Oliveira, and Justin Gaethje. This rematch offers him a chance to avenge an early-career loss on the sport’s biggest stage.
The main event is supported by a strong undercard. In the co-main event, Paddy Pimblett faces the durable Benoit Saint Denis in a compelling lightweight clash. The main card also features a critical bantamweight fight between Cory Sandhagen and Mario Bautista, while Brandon Royval takes on Lone’er Kavanagh at flyweight. The lightweight division will see further action as King Green meets Terrance McKinney.
The preliminary card is anchored by a light heavyweight bout between former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker and Nikita Krylov. Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson also competes on the prelims, facing Elisha Ellison in the heavyweight division.
