Mandel Nallo’s nose-picking gesture at the weigh-ins of the recent Ultimate Fighting Championship event in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, was for his kids.
UFC lightweight Mandel Nallo explained that his onstage nose-picking gesture at the ceremonial weigh-ins for UFC Edmonton was a planned signal for his young sons. The Canadian fighter revealed to Ariel Helwani that his children requested the gesture so they knew he acknowledged them watching at home. However, it led to an awkward encounter when UFC CEO Dana White immediately reached out for a handshake.
To avoid disrespecting White or making direct contact after using his right hand, Nallo chose to point a finger instead. Nallo went on to defeat Nate Landwehr by stoppage at the Oct. 17 event, bouncing back from a promotional debut loss to Jai Herbert.
