Following Darrell Waltrip's FTD diagnosis, another Hall of Fame NASCAR driver — Dale Jarrett — is thinking about the long-term impacts of concussions.

NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Dale Jarrett reflected on the sport's historical dangers and head trauma risks ahead of being honored at the Buoniconti Fund's Great Sports Legends Dinner. Jarrett addressed the lingering impacts of concussions following news that fellow Hall of Famer Darrell Waltrip was diagnosed with frontotemporal degeneration complicated by possible Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE).
Jarrett discussed his own career crashes and noted that past generations of drivers frequently struck concrete walls at extreme speeds before modern safety innovations were implemented. He emphasized that today's drivers benefit from advanced safety gear, medical oversight, and monitoring technology, though brain injuries remain an ongoing concern for older competitors.
