Bubba Wallace was leading with a potential NASCAR Cup Series victory within reach when Kyle Larson’s late crash changed everything at Phoenix Raceway. But for Freddie Kraft, the disappointment went beyond the No.
Bubba Wallace's spotter Freddie Kraft took responsibility for missing critical pit strategy information during a late caution at Phoenix Raceway. Wallace was leading when a late crash by Kyle Larson brought out the yellow flag. Kraft admitted on the Door Bumper Clear podcast that he failed to notice competitors staying on track, which influenced crew chief Charles Denike's decision to pit for four tires and dropped Wallace back to ninth.
A subsequent pit-road speeding penalty forced Wallace to restart at the rear, resulting in a 17th-place finish after leading 52 laps. Meanwhile, 23XI Racing teammate Tyler Reddick took two right-side tires during the final pit cycle and won the race, edging out Ryan Blaney.
