Kyle Larson had a troubled start at Las Vegas. He lost eight positions on the first stint in the South Point 400, dropped a lap after pitting, and appeared to be in serious trouble.
NASCAR insider Jeff Gluck dismissed suggestions that Toyota should have altered pit strategies to keep Kyle Larson a lap down during the South Point 400 at Las Vegas. Speaking on 'The Teardown' podcast, Gluck argued that compromising a team's own winning chances just to disadvantage the points leader this early in the playoffs is losing the plot, responding to co-host Jordan Bianchi's claim that Toyota may regret letting Larson recover to finish second.
Larson expanded his championship lead over Toyota's Denny Hamlin to 40 points despite hitting the wall on the final lap chasing race winner Chase Briscoe. Meanwhile, Toyota contenders encountered difficulties, with Hamlin spinning to finish 16th and Christopher Bell suffering power-steering issues to place 23rd.
