Sepang International Circuit was added as the late replacement for Bahrain International Circuit on the 2026 Formula 1 schedule.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen claimed pole position in qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix, hosted at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton qualified second to complete the front row, while Red Bull teammate Isack Hadjar secured third on the grid ahead of Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli.
The Sepang circuit served as a late substitute for the Bahrain International Circuit following cancellations caused by conflict in the Middle East. The race will take place on Sunday, October 4, marking Formula 1's first visit to Sepang since 2017.
