Kyle Larson maintained a commanding lead in the NASCAR Cup Series points standings following Sunday's Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway. Driving the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, Larson survived a challenging afternoon to finish ninth, extending his advantage to a 67-point cushion heading into the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Larson's Hendrick Motorsports teammate William Byron took the race victory at Martinsville, leading 362 laps to snap a 35-race winless streak. With only one race remaining on the 2026 schedule, just two drivers remain in mathematical contention to challenge Larson for the Cup Series championship.
