RFK Racing president Chip Bowers revealed that conflicting visions over Brad Keselowski's future role led to his exit from the organization. Speaking to media in Las Vegas, Bowers explained that the team wanted Keselowski to transition fully into his role as competitions director over the next two to three years. However, Keselowski preferred to prioritize his driving career for much longer, creating an impasse between the two sides.
Bowers emphasized that the split was not caused by personal fallouts within the ownership group. Because Keselowski's intertwined agreement encompassed driving, managing competition, and co-ownership, leaving the driver's seat also necessitated buying out his ownership stake. Furthermore, concerns regarding intellectual property sharing if Keselowski joins a non-Ford team made retaining his ownership stake unfeasible.
