Dodge is coming back to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2027 with Kaulig Racing but there are caveats aplenty. The body has been approved, with an unveil scheduled for the Snowball Derby Super Late race in December, but the engine inside…

Dodge will return to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2027 alongside Kaulig Racing, benefiting from NASCAR's delay in adopting hybrid or electric powertrains. Stellantis sought to market its internal combustion platform, aligning with its "HEMI is Back" initiative. Current reporting indicates Kaulig Racing drivers AJ Allmendinger and Ty Dillon will use engines provided by Earnhardt Childress Racing Engines rather than a proprietary Dodge platform.
NASCAR Event Management president John Probst confirmed current engine regulations will remain through at least 2028, with potential extensions into 2030 or 2032. This stability allowed Dodge to enter without the expense of building a temporary new engine. An accelerated approval process has prototype bodies tested, with the official unveil scheduled for December's Snowball Derby.
