William Byron can lead 485 laps at Charlotte and still go home empty-handed. He can rattle off four straight top-10s and still sit 160 points behind his own teammate. That’s where he is heading into the Bank of America 400…

William Byron spoke candidly about the performance gap between his No. 24 team and Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson. Speaking to Peter Stratta ahead of the Bank of America 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Byron admitted his car has lacked the speed and balance displayed by Larson's dominant No. 5 Chevrolet during the 2026 postseason.
Larson leads the Chase standings following two wins and a historic 2.2 average finish across five postseason races. Byron, who sits 12th in the standings and 160 points behind Larson despite four consecutive top-10 finishes, emphasized that he and crew chief Rudy Fugle must execute the finer details to bridge the divide.
