6′1″ Star Payton Pritchard Signs Multi-Year Extension With Celtics

The Boston Celtics have agreed to a two-year, $44.2 million contract extension with guard Payton Pritchard, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. The fully guaranteed deal includes a mutual option for the 2029-30 season and keeps the 28-year-old under contract through at least the 2028-29 campaign. Pritchard previously won the 2024 NBA championship and the 2025 Sixth Man of the Year award with Boston.

The new extension will pay Pritchard $21.2 million in 2028-29, followed by a $22.9 million mutual option. He opted for early long-term security instead of waiting to pursue a potential four-year contract in free agency. Pritchard comes off a career-best campaign where he averaged 17 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game.
