The NBA has retroactively assessed Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid a Flagrant 1 foul for kicking Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham. The incident happened during Wednesday's 112-106 victory when Embiid extended his right leg into Cunningham's groin during a first-quarter possession, which initially went uncalled by officials.
Embiid also received a technical foul earlier in the contest following a confrontation with Pistons forward Tolu Smith. Despite the disciplinary issues, Embiid recorded 26 points and 15 rebounds, helping Philadelphia improve their regular-season record to 8-1.
