Peachtree Hoops previews Jalen Johnson's upcoming 2026-27 campaign following a breakout season where he earned All-Star and Third Team All-NBA honors. In 2025-26, Johnson averaged career highs of 22.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 7.9 assists per game as Atlanta's primary offensive weapon. However, his production and three-point shooting dipped significantly during a playoff series loss to the New York Knicks.
Writer Joey Walraven argues that Johnson must fully embrace his role as the team's undisputed primary scoring option to maximize his potential. The writer notes that new roster additions, including rookie Kingston Flemings and defender Luguentz Dort alongside Dyson Daniels, will lessen Johnson's facilitating and defensive burdens.
