The Story in 60 Seconds

The Portland Trail Blazers have appointed radio announcer Travis Demers to handle television play-by-play duties on a trial basis. Demers will broadcast alongside analyst Lamar Hurd and courtside reporter Brooke Olzendam, with the role being evaluated on a game-by-game basis. His promotion follows his performance during a preseason game against the Golden State Warriors, after seven seasons as the team's radio voice.

The position opened after Kevin Calabro departed in July, followed by the brief hiring and firing of Braiden Bell within eight hours due to offensive past social media posts. While Bell's attorney has pushed for his reinstatement and claimed potential financial damages, the Blazers have stood by their decision to move forward with Demers.
