Celtics Make Key Payton Pritchard Decision Before Hornets Game

The Boston Celtics have upgraded guard Payton Pritchard to available for Friday's NBA Cup game against the Charlotte Hornets. Pritchard was cleared after leaving Wednesday's 109-102 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks with a right eye abrasion following multiple hits to the face. Boston head coach Joe Mazzulla confirmed Pritchard was progressing well, avoiding significant missed time.

Pritchard has averaged 13 points and 3.6 assists in eight appearances off the bench this season. His clearance provides rotation stability as Boston opens a four-game road trip, alongside the expected return of Jayson Tatum from rest. Meanwhile, the Hornets enter on a five-game losing streak with several players sidelined, including Grant Williams and Kon Knueppel.
