Celtics should consider upside swing on newly waived Rob Dillingham

The Charlotte Hornets have waived guard Rob Dillingham, making the 2024 eighth overall draft pick an unrestricted free agent. The Boston Celtics, led by Brad Stevens, could consider rescinding an existing training camp invite to make room and take a chance on the young guard.

Dillingham previously struggled to crack the Minnesota Timberwolves' rotation before being traded to the Chicago Bulls, and later to Charlotte for Buddy Hield. The Hornets opted to incur a $6.9 million cap hit to release Dillingham rather than keep him on their roster.
