As the Warriors halt Kristaps Porziņģis’ salary amid a worsening mystery illness, Brad Stevens’ trade decision looks more brilliant by the day for the Celtics.

Writer Ben Handler argues that the Boston Celtics were smart to trade Kristaps Porziņģis, as the center's career has spiraled due to persistent health issues. Porziņģis struggled with the Atlanta Hawks before being dealt to the Golden State Warriors for Jonathan Kuminga, where he made only 15 appearances. Despite these struggles, Golden State subsequently re-signed him to a two-year, $40 million contract.
Handler reports that Porziņģis has not played this season because of another undisclosed illness. According to ESPN reporting cited by Handler, the Warriors are withholding Porziņģis's salary for not rendering services. Golden State is reportedly trying to trade his contract, with the writer noting that Porziņģis appears near retirement.
