“Messi and the Giants” could introduce the soccer star to children who never watch him play, extending his name beyond his final match
Lionel Messi is executive producing an animated series titled "Messi and the Giants," scheduled to premiere globally on Disney+ in summer 2027. The project's first teaser debuted on October 2 at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga. Developed by Sony Pictures Television and Sony Music Vision alongside Atlantis Animation, the series follows a 12-year-old Argentine named Leo facing challenges against giants in soccer-like battles.
Roberto Ortega highlights how the venture mirrors Michael Jordan's enduring business legacy, aiming to connect Messi with younger audiences beyond his playing days. Messi, who remains under contract with Inter Miami through 2028, noted that he loved animated shows as a child and hopes to inspire young viewers.
