Scottie Pippen’s high-profile split in 2021 with Larsa Pippen led to a strange reaction from one former Chicago Bulls player. Scottie Pippen and Larsa Pippen were married for more than two decades, but the couple ultimately split up in 2021.
Former Chicago Bulls player John Salley defended Larsa Pippen for receiving half of Scottie Pippen's retirement money following their 2021 divorce. Speaking in a 2022 interview on VladTV, Salley expressed support for Larsa securing a 50 percent share of her ex-husband's wealth and NBA pension after over two decades of marriage.
Salley compared marriage to entering a binding contract with explicit legal rules, stating that Larsa earned her settlement by being there. Additionally, Salley gave his blessings to Larsa's subsequent relationship with Marcus Jordan, the son of former Bulls legend Michael Jordan.
