The Philadelphia 76ers overcame a 29-point deficit to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 114-106 in their home opener. Tyrese Maxey led the comeback with 32 points alongside Joel Embiid's 24 points, overcoming early boos from the home crowd to hand Cleveland the largest blown lead in franchise history. Donovan Mitchell scored 32 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Cavaliers in the loss.
The game featured several dramatic storylines, including LeBron James achieving the largest comeback victory of his 24-year NBA career with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Prior to the game, Donald Trump criticized James over his conduct during the national anthem, to which James responded by calling it a slow news day. A brief fourth-quarter altercation also occurred between Maxey and former teammate James Harden.
