The Los Angeles Clippers have appointed longtime Los Angeles attorney John Gibson as their interim CEO and governor. This decision follows a one-year NBA suspension handed to team owner Steve Ballmer. The league suspended Ballmer after an investigation into the franchise's dealings with Kawhi Leonard revealed violations concerning endorsement agreements.
In addition to Ballmer's suspension, the NBA fined the Clippers $30 million and stripped the franchise of five first-round draft picks. Team executive Gillian Zucker was also suspended for one year, while Lawrence Frank received a six-month suspension. Although Ballmer initially planned to fight the ruling, he ultimately accepted the penalties and apologized to fans.
