Heat To Sign Dennis Smith Jr.

Free agent point guard Dennis Smith Jr. has agreed to a contract with the Miami Heat, according to his agent Daniel Hazan via Chris Haynes. The Heat closely monitored the seven-year veteran throughout the offseason before reaching terms on what is likely a non-guaranteed deal or a training camp contract.

Smith, selected ninth overall in the 2017 draft, holds career NBA averages of 9.7 points and 4.2 assists across 326 games. Last season, the 28-year-old played 21 games for Miami's G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, and had a brief stint with Real Madrid.
