Nikola Jokic reiterates plan to sign extension with Nuggets next summer, cracks ‘if they want me’

Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic reiterated his commitment to sign a long-term contract extension with the team next summer during media day on Monday. The three-time NBA MVP jokingly added the condition "if they want me," while expressing his full intention to remain with the franchise that drafted him. By waiting until next offseason, Jokic will be eligible for a five-year supermax extension estimated to be worth around $350 million.

Jokic stated that staying in Denver is about legacy, citing Stephen Curry's long tenure with Golden State as an example he wishes to follow. The Nuggets front office also dismissed any worries regarding his future, with executive vice president of basketball operations Ben Tenzer confirming the organization has no concerns about Jokic departing.
