The Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics finished 1-2 in the Eastern Conference standings last season. Both teams failed to reach the conference finals during the playoffs and both might feel a little overlooked coming into this season.
The Detroit Pistons host the Boston Celtics on Tuesday afternoon in a season-opening matchup featuring the Eastern Conference's top two regular-season finishers from last year. Under head coach J.B. Bickerstaff, Detroit enters the campaign aiming to build on a 60-win season. Meanwhile, Boston opens a new chapter after trading away All-NBA guard Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers during the offseason.
Detroit enters the contest with new additions John Collins and Isaiah Joe alongside core stars Cade Cunningham, Ausar Thompson, and Jalen Duren. For the Celtics, Jayson Tatum returns from a torn Achilles alongside newly acquired forward Paul George and free-agent signing Mitchell Robinson, who are both set to make their team debuts.
