New Detroit Pistons Rumor Could Make Jalen Duren Push Harder for Trade Out of Motown Soon

Jason Burgos of Sportsnaut reports that stalled contract talks between Jalen Duren and the Detroit Pistons could intensify after rumors revealed Detroit considered trading for and extending Kawhi Leonard. Duren entered the offseason seeking a five-year, $287 million maximum contract, but the Pistons have reportedly only offered up to $200 million while blocking sign-and-trade discussions.

According to TSN's Josh Lewenberg, the Pistons were willing to hand the 35-year-old Leonard a lucrative contract extension if they acquired him from the Los Angeles Clippers. Burgos argues that Detroit's willingness to commit significant financial resources to an older, injury-prone star while holding a firm stance against the 22-year-old All-Star center could motivate Duren to seek a trade.
