ESPN is significantly expanding the presence of "Inside the NBA" on ESPN and ABC this season, scheduling the studio show for 25 regular-season nights. According to The Athletic, this marks an increase of five appearances compared to last season. The team featuring Charles Barkley, Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, and Shaquille O'Neal will make seven appearances before Christmas, up from four during that period a year ago.
The decision comes after criticism regarding the show's inconsistent airtime, with Barkley previously voicing frustration after appearing only once between mid-November and late January. ESPN stated the change aims to provide a more consistent presence throughout the NBA season, especially amid speculation about the crew's future and Barkley's potential retirement.
