Hours after the Knicks halted extension talks, a front office insider revealed a surprising development in Karl-Anthony Towns' contract drama.

ESPN front office insider Bobby Marks revealed that the New York Knicks were presented with scenarios to sign both Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart to long-term extensions without exceeding the NBA's second luxury-tax apron. The report arrived shortly after the Knicks announced they were postponing all extension discussions until later in the regular season, raising questions about why negotiations were halted despite workable financial solutions.
Marks suggested that Towns' public comments expressing frustration over the lack of contract progress might have irked team owner James Dolan. The Knicks reportedly offered Towns approximately $200 million over four years, falling well short of his available $276 million maximum extension.
