NBA star Kristaps Porzingis released a statement on Friday about his future amid his health battle. The Golden State Warriors big man is dealing with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).

Golden State Warriors big man Kristaps Porzingis announced he is stepping away from basketball to focus on his health while battling postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). Despite the hiatus, Porzingis is not retiring and remains open to facilitating a potential trade or contract buyout with the Warriors, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Luca Evans.
Porzingis has yet to play in the 2026-27 season after first developing severe symptoms following a viral illness while with the Boston Celtics. Teammate Draymond Green indicated the Warriors are not holding any grudges and have adopted a "next man up" mentality as they move forward without waiting for Porzingis' return.
