It’s only been 16 years since Joe Lacob led an investment group that, using an exploding offer, shockingly purchased the Golden State Warriors for $450 million. And now, less than two decades later, Lacob and Co. have seen their investment…

Sportico recently valued the Golden State Warriors at an NBA-leading $14.5 billion, marking an increase of more than 32 times the $450 million purchase price paid by Joe Lacob and his ownership group in 2010. The franchise led the league with nearly $900 million in revenue last season and saw its valuation climb 28% year-over-year, bolstered by star player Steph Curry and the privately funded Chase Center arena.
Brady Klopfer analyzes how much higher the franchise's value can grow, noting that the team has largely maximized its revenue through arena concerts and housing the WNBA's Golden State Valkyries, who are valued at $850 million. Klopfer questions when the broader NBA franchise valuation boom might end while suggesting Lacob remains unlikely to sell at current market valuations.
