The Golden State Warriors secured their first preseason victory on Tuesday night, defeating a shorthanded Los Angeles Lakers team 124-98 at Chase Center. Honoring former coach Don Nelson on 'Nellie Night,' the Warriors exploded offensively to establish an 81-53 lead by halftime. Golden State's starters set the tone early, racking up 45 points in the first quarter before head coach Steve Kerr rested his primary veterans for the second half.
Steph Curry scored 16 points with five assists in 14 minutes, while Draymond Green added eight assists in 15 minutes. Brandin Podziemski contributed 16 points, and rookie Yaxel Lendeborg tallied 17 points and nine rebounds. The Lakers played without core players Luka Dončić, Austin Reaves, and Walker Kessler. Golden State next travels to face the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night.
