Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr urged patience regarding forward Georges Niang following the team's 131-122 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Saturday night. Niang struggled from the floor, shooting 2-of-9 for four points and four rebounds across 23 minutes as the Warriors dropped to an 0-3 start in the 2026-2027 NBA season. Kerr defended Niang after the defeat, stating that he is a perfect fit who simply needs time to find his rhythm.
Niang missed the entire 2025-2026 season due to a fourth metatarsal stress reaction in his left foot suffered with the Utah Jazz. The veteran forward joined the Warriors on a one-year, $3.9 million contract in the offseason to serve as the backup power forward. Kerr highlighted that Niang has essentially not played in a year and has yet to fully regain his game legs.
