An all-around defensive gem got the Knicks off the schneid and back in the win column — for the first time since clinching the title in Game 5 of the NBA Finals last year.

The defending champion New York Knicks earned their first win of the season Tuesday night, defeating the Detroit Pistons 111-97 at Madison Square Garden. Karl-Anthony Towns led the Knicks with 27 points and 20 rebounds to help snap an 0-3 start under head coach Mike Brown.
After trailing by 13 at the end of the first quarter, New York dominated defensively, limiting Detroit to just 25 combined points in the second and third quarters. Jalen Brunson added 23 points, while Detroit played without injured contributors Jalen Duren and Isaiah Joe.
