Austin Reaves identified turnovers as a critical problem that he and Luka Doncic must fix for the Los Angeles Lakers ahead of the regular season. Speaking following Sunday's practice, Reaves stated that head coach JJ Redick noted the team committed 20 or more turnovers in every game, and Reaves admitted that he and Doncic serve as the main catalysts who need to clean up their mistakes.
Across their first three preseason exhibitions, the Lakers committed a total of 67 turnovers, including 24 during Thursday's 114-110 victory over the Sacramento Kings. Reaves also praised Sandro Mamukelashvili's ability to initiate offense, while Redick stated that injuries have complicated final evaluations for the team's remaining opening night starting positions.
