Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick addressed the team's persistent turnover issues after they committed 29 turnovers in a preseason loss to the Golden State Warriors. The Lakers have averaged 25 turnovers across their first four preseason games, recording at least 20 in each contest. Redick diagnosed the problem as stemming from playing in crowds and significant disorganization during minutes when key ball-handlers rest.
The team's struggles have been exacerbated by Collin Sexton's absence due to a lower-body injury, leaving reserves like Bronny James, Jaden Hardy, and Chris Mañon with expanded ball-handling duties. To mitigate the bench playmaking issues until Sexton returns, Redick plans to stagger the minutes of primary handlers Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.
