Lakers' center Robbie Avila was granted a preliminary injunction for a fifth year of college eligibility and returns to St. Louis University.

Center Robbie Avila will return to Saint Louis University after a court granted him a preliminary injunction for a fifth collegiate season, ending his time with the Los Angeles Lakers. The 23-year-old previously signed an Exhibit 10 deal and played two Summer League games for Los Angeles, but never signed a formal professional contract.
St. Louis City Circuit Judge Jason Sengheiser ruled Saint Louis can maintain a 16th roster spot for Avila pending trial. The departure leaves the Lakers continuing to evaluate depth at center behind Walker Kessler and Kevon Looney.
