Doc Rivers publicly criticized Giannis Antetokounmpo and what it was like coaching the two-time NBA MVP during their time together with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Former Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers publicly criticized Giannis Antetokounmpo during an appearance on "The Bill Simmons Podcast." Rivers stated that Antetokounmpo was "difficult" to coach, lacked a "super-high IQ," and needed to learn how to properly execute during practices and shootarounds.
Rivers, who stepped down following the 2025-26 season, noted that Antetokounmpo now plays for Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra. Antetokounmpo is currently averaging 27.3 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists through nine games with the Heat.
