Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra are taking no prisoners during the off-season at the Miami Heat. Ever since landing in South Beach at the 2025 trade deadline, Davion Mitchell has established himself as a core fixture in Miami’s backcourt.
Miami Heat point guard Davion Mitchell revealed that his end-of-season exit meeting with team president Pat Riley and head coach Erik Spoelstra focused entirely on his conditioning. According to Mitchell, the team leadership bypassed basketball discussions to instruct him directly to lower his weight and body fat ahead of the upcoming season.
Speaking on the Deuce & Mo Podcast, Mitchell also detailed the difficulty of Miami's conditioning test, which demands five full-court trips in under a minute repeated five times. The guard previously failed the test after arriving sleep-deprived on a red-eye flight following the birth of his daughter.
