The Miami Heat suffered their first preseason defeat on Saturday, narrowly falling 125-124 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Head coach Erik Spoelstra chose to rest his starters and primary rotation players, fielding a starting lineup featuring Tre Donaldson, Pelle Larsson, Simone Fontecchio, Nikola Jovic, and Nick Richards ahead of their regular season opening matchup against Minnesota.
Despite the altered lineup, Miami stayed competitive behind rookie Ryan Conwell, who posted 22 points, nine assists, and five rebounds off the bench. Vlad Goldin added 18 points, while Jovic tallied 16 points and Fontecchio scored 14. The Heat continue their preseason against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.
