Many were curious of Michael Jordan's broadcast future after his short stint as a “special on-air contributor” for NBC Sports’ NBA coverage in the 2025–26 season.

NBC Sports broadcaster Mike Tirico explained why Michael Jordan parted ways with the network after a brief stint as a special contributor during the 2025–26 NBA season. Speaking at the Front Office Sports Tuned In summit, Tirico stated that the Hall of Famer did not want to manage the day-to-day grind of regular sports broadcasting at this point in his life.
Jordan's involvement consisted of a single sit-down interview with Tirico titled "MJ: Insights To Excellence," which was divided into five short segments that aired across the season. While some critics viewed the limited output as underwhelming, Tirico defended the project, noting that Jordan preferred discussing basketball in a controlled environment and that the interview generated lasting conversation.
