Luca Banchi has returned to Olimpia Milano as head coach on a multi-year contract, replacing Giuseppe Poeta after the club's difficult start to the EuroLeague season.
Olimpia Milano has appointed Luca Banchi as head coach on a multi-year contract to replace Giuseppe Poeta, the club announced on Sunday, November 8. Banchi previously coached Milan from 2013 to 2015, winning an Italian league title. He will continue serving concurrently as the head coach of the Italian national team following approval from federation president Gianni Petrucci.
The decision comes after Milan endured a 1-9 start to the 2026-27 EuroLeague season, leaving them 19th in the standings. Poeta was dismissed on November 6 after managing just one win in 10 games. Banchi's first fixture in charge will be against Zalgiris Kaunas on Thursday, November 12.
