The Milwaukee Bucks waived guard Kevin Porter Jr. on Monday to reduce their roster to 15 standard contracts following unsuccessful attempts to trade him. Writer William Moxon notes that Porter's release mirrors the departure of former Bucks guard Cam Thomas, who was waived in March after failing to provide sustained positive impact beyond scoring.
According to Moxon, Milwaukee decided to move on from Porter's ball-dominant style to open playing time for younger guards. With Ryan Rollins and Tyler Herro established as the starting backcourt, the Bucks are expected to rely on players like rookie Brayden Burries and Kasparas Jakuconis off the bench.
